Sony UK has lots of Facebook fans. In Christmas 2010 they wanted to get into the festive spirit and give a little joy back to their fans. But how do you stand out in the most adverting intense time of the year, without spending anything on media?
Sony Christmas Gifts, an application that turns Sony products into Facebook gifts. These gifts were free to give away, as many as you like, to any Facebook friend. And with a little Christmas magic, some of the gifts turned real and got delivered to their door.
Results
During the 16 day long Facebook campaign, 21,752 gifts were sent. 51 percent of the people receiving a gift went on to send their own. Sony UK got 2000 new Facebook fans during the campaign. They were so happy with the results they ran the campaign again following Christmas.
